ZOOM #1 : Acting
The 1st online class we had was acting with Mr Bong. We first started with a warmup which is to put our tongue behind the front of our teeth and talk about what we did in the past week. Then we did some eye placing practice. We had to roll our eyes 4 times around the ¡°box¡± without blinking our eyes. This exercise was really hard for me and my eyes were so dry during the practice. I think I need to practice this exercise more. Before moving on to improvisation, we did some pronunciation practice. The process was to do 3 rounds and to say the tongue twister at 3 different speeds. This exercise was a little more challenging for me because I kind of mess up reading Korean words fast. Then later we moved on to improvisation. We had to pick one of the 3 scenarios given :
When you are a dog or a cat but when you wake up, you can speak the human language
In front of you, there is button which out of 2/1 you die, but if you don¡¯t die you get $1000 dollars
You are a robot vacuum. One day you get the human¡¯s emotions but the humans can¡¯t understand you
I picked the 2nd one and practiced how I am going to show it in my head. I went 2nd in the order and I think I should have ¡°pressed¡± the button by tapping the macbook camera to make it look more real. After everyone did their turn, it was time for the class to end.
ONLINE (#4 and #5) : Vocal
The 2nd online class we had was singing with Ms Valerie. It was really nice to see her again even though it wasn¡¯t live. We first started with some warmups. Our first warmup was to sing ¡°Ah¡± with a vocal range. Then she gave us advice saying that ¡°Try to make some sounds so that you can bring the sound to the front of the face¡± I think this advice is pretty helpful. Then for our last warmup is to sing with numbers ¡°1 2 3 4 5¡± and back down with a vocal range. Then we moved on to reviewing some English words. Some of the words were easy for me but some maybe I need to review more. Then we moved on to #4 (Love your enemy) When I first heard the song, it was pretty easy and not a lot of high notes so it was pretty easy for me to sing along to. But there were a lot of parts which had notes going back and forth which I needed to make sure it came out clearly. Then we moved on to #5 (Love messenger) After listening to the song, the teacher told us some errors that were in the music sheet so we fixed that. In the 2nd part of the song, when there is the part ¡°my fists will be waiting for you¡± it was pretty hard to pronounce the word ¡°fists¡± especially because I had to focus on hitting the vocal cords. I think I need to practice pronouncing the words in this song. Then the teacher gave us advice saying ¡°When you repeat a lot of phrases then really build up the emotion¡± I think this will help me with my acting and singing. Then after we sang the whole song, the teacher gave us 3 steps when you get a new song :
SPEAK THE WORDS FIRST
SPEAK IT IN THE RHYTHM
SING THE SONG
After the lesson ended, we had to review the songs we learned recently (#1, #4, and #5) I think this vocal class was really fun and also had a lot of helpful advice provided.
